Pink lady knits

Still knitting...

I've been working on mindless garter stitch...

I'm not sure why, but lately I haven't had the itch to knit quite as much as I have in the past. Sure, I've been working on things here and there, but only a little at a time, and it hasn't been as all-consuming as in the past. I think that a few things may be causing this...

1. I didn't knit for 2 weeks while on vacation...this may have caused a "stall" in my mojo.

2. It's possible that the things I'm working on aren't interesting me right now.

3. I have lace on the needles.

I know that the third one will confuse you, but the thing that I've noticed about me, and the way I knit, is that when I have a large lace project on the needles I tend to stall out. In the past I've stalled out on just that one project, though it occasionally "infects" all of knitting for me until I decide to purge the project from my life.

Currently, it's the Shetland that's on my needles. This one can not be purged. It's for a good friend, and it is a Christmas gift (yes, last Christmas, you got a problem with that?) The pattern is simple, the yarn is amazing...and yet somehow the thought of knitting it makes me want to stick needles in my eyes.

I think I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a lace knitter. Now I just need to be OK with it...

Hey Courtney! I think it's great that you're aware of what kind of knitter you are (or aren't) and especially that you're able to admit it! I still don't know what kind of knitting I like best, I need to knti more. I was so happy to see you and VJ at the wedding, sorry I didn't have the time to bring you to a Vegas yarn shop. That just means you'll have to come back - soon! Take care and enjoy the stall - I'm stalling too, I'm enjoying the sensation of being able to watch a movie with the lights off and not have some last minute project in my lap....

So the lesson is - don't knit lace - I just look at lace and I want to give up knitting - and honestly how many shawls do you actually wear?

elizabeth - maybe it's the weather too? i'm not sure. it's warming up here, but i'm still in a sweater mood...we'll see. i'm with you on getting it back...i'm crossing my fingers.

erin - well hello there! glad to see that you are back in one piece. i don't know that i know what knitting i like best either. i've determined what i don't like (now what to do with all of that lace yarn!?) but otherwise i seem to go through phases. i think i tend to lean towards simplicity...which suits me. i'm sure you'll find your favorite sometime soon. how many projects are you working on now?

raining sheep - you are SO right! i think i'm going to have to stop trying to make myself do something i don't enjoy...knitting is supposed to be fun, right?
yeah, i never wear shawls... :)
