Pink lady knits

Juliet

Pattern: Juliet, from Zephyr Style
Yarn: Malabrigo Merino Worsted, "Orchid"
Needles: #10 Susan Bates
Size: Small
Buttons: Vintage from my stash

As soon as I saw this pattern I wanted to knit it. It is simple in it's construction, and flattering on so many body types, it is a truly versitile sweater. The lace pattern is easy to memorize, and the garter stitch yoke really increases the speed of the knit. If you just dedicate a few hours a night to it, it can be completed in 4 or 5 nights. I think it may have taken longer to block than knit!

It seemed like the perfect pattern to try out an expensive yarn like Malabrigo because I needed so little (just over two balls for the long version of the sweater.) I am so glad I bought this yarn, it's amazingly soft and supple. I enjoyed winding it, knitting with it and I completely savor wearing it! The color variations are so subtle and unique...it's just lovely. I'm happy that I was able to use a heavy worsted yarn, because bulky knits don't flatter me at all. The only variation I made to the pattern was the buttons. I found that attaching the loops to the sweater pulled it in an unflattering way, so I simply stitched buttons on each side of the cardigan and made loops to hold them together. It makes it more versatile too, because I can wear it without buttoning it at all now.

I saw so many Juliet's out there, but once I saw the beautiful version at A Mingled Yarn, I was hooked...I had to knit it! I ordered the yarn the same day and had a completed Juliet within a week of getting my shipment in the mail.

Courtney, I love the new pictures!! And the sweater looks fantastic on you! Hey guess what, I was talking about one of your posts last night at my monthly knitting group, and one of the ladies there says 'hey I think I read that blog!' And when I told her the name of your blog, she said that yes, she reads your blog! So you have more than one fan here in Vegas! (that I know of, I'm sure you have many fans out there that don't comment - my knitting pal admits that she just reads, no comments) :o)
