Pink lady knits

Contrary to popular belief...

I have been knitting. Socks, in fact. FOR ME.
Pattern: None, really, just simple socks.
Yarn: Gedifra from Webs in autumnal colors.
Needles: Susan Bates #1 DPN's.
Notes: I haven't been able to take these off since I finished them. The yarn is soft and squishy and the tweediness of it enchants me. I really love the way they striped into a sunset and they are oh, so warm. I didn't have a "pattern" for these, but knew I just wanted a nice pair of socks for myself. I cast on 18 stitches on each needles (so, 72 stitches total, I think) and did a bit of twisted ribbing and then went to town on the stockingnette. They are a little boring, but I love them. I have another two balls that I think may be my first attempt at toe-up socks, but I am not sure yet.

I also knit almost an entire Jaywalker out of Lorna's Laces, but had to rip it out when I went to try it on after the heel gussets. My husband helpfully commented "I don't think that is going to fit..." Yeah, and it didn't. At all. I guess I need more stitches with that yarn. I am trying to decide if I should add two stitches to each needle or if I should just knit another pattern with that yarn. Thing is, it is really stripey (which I love) so I don't want too take away from that with lace or any other intricate detail. Maybe I should just do another pair of stockingnette socks? It's the zig-zag pattern that is making the sock tight, so that may work. We'll see.

what gorgeous colours!! is that the sportivo? I'll have to check if there's any at the LYS so I can feel it. I find most of the wool sock yarns a bit too scratchy.
