Pink lady knits

Log Cabin goodness...

I started working on the Log Cabin socks from Handknit Holidays by Melanie Falick. (Here are a few examples of these socks knit by others.) There are a few important things to note about me and this project:

1. I am using a chart. I am not just saying that there is a chart in the pattern and that I have the opportunity to use it, but am ignoring it in favor of the written instructions....oh, NO! I am ACTUALLY using the chart (mainly because there are no written instructions.) Moreover, I am liking the chart. It is easier than I thought it would be. I think this is due to the fact that I am knitting in the round.

2. I am using a yarn that I purchased for it's cheapness, but actually really like. It is the Patons Classic Wool, and it is really quite soft. I haven't washed it yet, so I have no idea how they will hold up, but so far I am pleased.

3. This project is flying. I have done the first 1/2 of the cable chart on one sock, and it only took me about an hour and 20 minutes, including casting on. (I won't lie and pretend that I did a swatch, because that would be wrong.) With that in mind, I should have an update for you with a photo tomorrow. The only thing that would set me back is trick-or-treaters knocking so much that it prevents me from good solid knitting time. However, I have a lovely husband, and I just know he'll answer the door and let me knit.

Other Things:
In addition to the Log Cabin Sock news, Liesel reached her destination and was described by my friend as "perfect". I beg to differ, but the important thing to note is that it is finished and out of my hands, literally!

My Father-in-Law's Zig Zag Scarf continues to make progress, and is looking very nice, even if I do say so myself. Maybe I'll throw an updated WIP photo of that in the next post as well.

I am off to Barnes and Noble to pick up my copy of Knitting on the Road. After ordering it 3 times and waiting over three weeks, it is finally here! Oh, and I will be wearing my Halloween costume, which is a tiara. ;)

Hey Courtney! I'm IMing you right now, and also reading your blog! heehee!! And I wanted to post and say 'keep up the good work!' I love reading about your progress, and it makes me want to knit more and more so I can knit some of the cool things you are working on! I'm already planning Christmas gifts for my family (pretty much just a bunch of scarves). And wool boxers for Matt of course! (J/K)
