Mom's Socks

Pattern: Fancy Silk Socks for a child of 5 or 6 years
Yarn: Louet Gems
Needles: #1 Addi DPN's

I loved making these. The repeat was long enough that I didn't get bored with it, but easy enough that I could take them on car trips without the book and still do fine. I followed these two the letter save the cuff. If you remember from this post several months ago, it was a mistake, but upon showing it to my Mom, I realized that she loved it, so I kept it the way it was. I actually think I like this cuff more than the one in the pattern. If you want details, just let me know.
The yarn was a dream to work with...smooth on my needles and my hands. It's a perfectly lovely Project Spectrum blue, and I couldn't be happier to be posting these during the "Air" theme, as they make me giddy beyond belief. This may be my favorite lace pattern ever. Blocking these really helped crisp up the pattern, so I'd recommend it (even though I almost never block socks!)

The finished product is something that I know my Mom will love and wear often. If you've never knit these socks, I highly recommend them. I think I'll cast on for another Nancy Bush pattern soon, it's easy to forget how well they are written! Which of hers do you think I should knit next?

Whoa! Lovely!! It's been so hot I don't even feel like knitting lately...and I started taking a spinning class last weekend and have a huge pillowcase full of dirty, stinky sheep's wool that I need to pick clean and card before the next class - so thanks for the inspiration, maybe I'll learn how to spin finely enough for sock yarn!!
