Sockapalooza Progress

I am four repeats in to the first Saucy sock. This pattern is very easy and really fun to knit. I am taking it slowly (I make it a point to knit a lot on another sock and then let myself do one repeat on Saucy) still, it is moving very quickly. I am liking the Fleece Artist, it is nice to knit with and works well with the larger needle size this pattern requires. It is rather variegated, but not in a bad way. I think it will make a pretty sock. :)

I have plans to send my sock pal something small this week. Though (and correct me if I am wrong as this is my first time in a Sockapalooza,) I am concerned that I am making a mistake in doing so. I have read on some posts on the site and on some at the Pligg that people aren't supposed to send small gifts to spoil their pal. I am unclear on what to do, but appreciate advice. I'd like to send her something (I have yarn and small things set aside) but won't if it's "taboo".

I accept food, if you are looking to send people stuff. (I wonder if your readers know that you are an insanely good cook as well as a knitter!?)

You are too kind, as usual. We had a good "veg" friendly dish last night, Campanelle with Roasted Summer Vegetables and Parm. It was NUMMERS and super simple.
I'll shoot you the recipe.

Looks very nice! I'm not sure if it's o.k. to send stuff ahead of time or not, but I'm interested to hear what people say. I was thinking about having friends in other places post for me, to keep my identity/location a secret.

That is a gorgeous sock. You have a very lucky pal. I don't know if it is okay to send little gifts or not but I have noticed other people doing so.

Wow--I love the yarn, great pattern choice, and the knitting is superb! :)

I would think it's OK-- it's just that you shouldn't expect people to be doing that. I'm sure your pal won't complain about getting something nice ;)

The sock yarn you have is beautiful!

Carrie - LOL, having friends post is a great idea! I think I am just going to go ahead and send her things. I already bought them after all.

Shari - Thanks! I hope that she likes them (oh, a clue there, it's a girl I am knitting for!) the yarn is really nice to work with.

Alliesw - Many thanks! I don't feel that the photo does the pattern justice, next time I'll be doing a macro shot.

s b - Thanks so much! I believe this is the first time my knitting has been called subpurb!

Kristy - That's good advice. I bought a lot of it when I ordered the yarn for her socks, but I acquired things over time and I am just having fun doing it.

Spoiling your pal is not part of the exchange, but, then, in the past we've not been given our pal's address more than about a week before send off. It is certainly not an obligation, but should be okay at your perogative. Just stay anonymous- mmaybe get an out-of-town relative to mail it so thay don't even really know where you're from yet.

I agree with what others have said - my understanding is that multiple gifts are not "officially" part of the swap but there's no rule against it. Wow, between those gorgeous socks and your kindness, I hope you're MY pal!!
